So, you’ve booked your treatment in but are feeling nervous and you have a consultation upcoming or you're gathering knowledge - in any case, you're seriously considering getting your eyebrows 'Microbladed', ‘semi-permanent' or ‘tattooed'.
When doing your research you’ll no doubt come across a lot of 'Experts' in your family or friend circle who will now start to advise you on the treatment, the after effects and consequences of what you are about/considering to do.
Let's sort out the nonsense from the reality, shall we?
YOU'LL SHAVE MY EYEBROWS OFF AND REDO THEM
Urrr...... no. LIE!
Once the shape is agreed at the drawing stage we remove some stragglers if necessary or trim some long ones, only with your permission.
SCABBING WILL BE THERE FOR TWO WEEKS THEN DROP OFF
True - if you choose a technician who performs very deep, very dark work that scars the skin, it can potentially cause heavy bleeding.
My technique is to go lightly, in layers, to gradually build the colour up to your desired depth, and to ensure the tone is in keeping with your colouring.
CONSULTATIONS AREN’T NECESSARY
Lie! Definitely run a mile if you are not offered a (free) consultation. It's a two-way thing you know, you also have to be satisfied that the technician working on your face is listening to you, will work with you and there won’t be any surprises.
PATCH TESTS ARE NOT NEEDED
Lie! Why wouldn't you? With this sort of treatment, patch tests are 100% needed. This can be carried out at the consultation. If there is a concern over your skin’s reaction or an extensive allergy concern, a small scratch test can be administered to judge the reaction to a tiny amount in the bloodstream.
MICROBLADING IS BETTER
Truth and Lie: This one is completely down to preference and what you desire. Microblading and machine method both have their own place in the semi-permanent makeup world.
MICROBLADING HURTS
True. However, it’s only a little scratchy at first. No-one has ever failed to come back for the second treatment. Ever.
HARLEY STREET IS THE BEST PLACE TO GO
OK, whilst you're making your way through the traffic, people, congestion charge, railway stations etc, chances are your technician is doing the same. Many semi-permanent technicians rent in Harley Street and then charge triple the treatment cost because of the intensely high rents that have to be covered. It is NOT a barometer of excellence.
I WILL REGRET NOT DOING THIS EARLIER
100% True!
Of course - just choose the right technician for you.
