F.A.Q

What is semi-permanent makeup?

It’s an advanced form of tattooing. State of the art equipment and needles are used that have been specifically developed to work around the delicate areas of the face. Colour is placed into the skin using medical grade pigments.

Who can benefit from semi-permanent makeup?

It’s perfect for busy mums who don’t have 15 minutes to apply makeup. It’s ideal for working women who want to get up and go, knowing their makeup is the best it can be - without doing anything!. It’s great if you love working out and you don’t have to worry about eyeliner smudging, etc. For those of you who need glasses and can’t see to apply makeup well, for those of you with medical conditions where your hands shake - again, it’s perfect. For those of you that just want to look the best you can, every day, and enjoy the massive confidence boost it brings. In essence, it can benefit pretty much everyone.

Does it hurt?

Lets get this one out of the way, as it’s the first everyone question everyone asks! The treatment is made comfortable using numbing creams. The latest guidelines ask that the client purchases a numbing cream prior to their treatment, which is inexpensive and Paula will advise. She also advises that it’s applied approximately 90 minutes before treatment, and then again an hour later. Many of her clients have been known to nod off during a procedure.

What can I expect during the first consultation?

The first consultation is completely free and you are under no obligation to commit to any treatment. Paula will talk through any medical issues as well as discuss the colour, shape and what you’re looking to get out of the process. If you decide to go ahead with a treatment, then the deposit will be taken during this time.

How long does the treatment take?

Paula allows 3 hours minimum for each treatment she performs, as she refuses to rush or cut corners due to time restraints. This is generally an hour for drawing on the template for brows, liner or lips, and then up to 2 hours to perform the actual procedure itself. Retouches, which are a month to six weeks later, generally take less time and are included in the initial cost of the procedure.

What will I look like after the treatment?

Immediately after, and for the first few days, the colour intensity will appear significantly darker and more intense. After that, there may occur light patchiness where the body tries to push the pigment away, for a few days. Then the true colour emerges and will probably require a retouch. Redness and swelling will reduce in a couple of hours or so for the brows. Eyeliners and lips may take a couple of days.

How long will it last?

Permanent makeup usually lasts 12-18 months depending on your lifestyle and skin. Sun is our worst enemy and prematurely fades the makeup. A good SPF cream or makeup will prolong the life of your permanent makeup, over SPF 30 is recommended.

How do you know what style of treatment will suit me?

Everyone’s face is different. However, there are a few beauty secrets we use to help re-design your brows so they are unique to you. Before the procedure and at the consultation, time will be spent on drawing your brows and perfecting them. Only when you are totally satisfied with the shape, will the treatment begin.

How will you know what lip colours to choose?

I will ask you to bring a couple of your favourite lipsticks that you wear all of the time - your old favourite! I will then test the colours on your lips and we can choose from the large range that I have. For lip liner, I recommend choosing a colour that closely resembles your natural lip colour, so that the new shape looks as natural as possible.
